Teenager commits suicide in Tamil Nadu after father scolds him

COIMBATORE: A 16-year-old boy committed suicide in Pollachi on Monday evening after his father scolded him for not concentrating on his studies.
B Prabhu was found hanging in his grandmother’s house in Kunjipalayam in Pollachi on Monday evening, police said.
Prabhu was a Class X student in the Singanallur Government Higher Secondary School. His father, Balakrishnan, is a weaver by profession and his mother is a homemaker.Prabhu had a younger sister who is also a Class X student in the same school, police said.
On Monday, Balakrishnan saw Prabhu whiling away time instead of studying. He scolded Prabhu. Upset over this, Prabhu went to his grandmother’s place which is close to his house.
In the evening, neighbours of Prabhu’s grandmother found him hanging from the ceiling of a room. They informed the Pollachi West police.
The police filed case. The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem on Tuesday.
